I don't know yet. I caught one, but I haven't really had a chance to train her.

I just thought they were cool. And fire types are usually pretty strong.

I have a Growlithe that I got on the way from Goldenrod, he's pretty awesome. Fire types do seem to be really strong, but apparently they've got some tricky weaknesses.

Actually, since I'm getting close to Ecruteak I was planning on giving Morty a go. Have you taken him on?

I really like Growlithe. They're good pokemon, and loyal to. Mine's evolved though. He's an Arcanine.

[On the other end, Roxas kind of bristles. He didn't like fighting Morty. He's gained a severe fear of ghosts.]

Yeah, I have. He uses ghost types.

Was he difficult? I mean...I've got some Dark types I was gunna bring to the party, so I figure I won't be too far out. I know psychics would be way out, and that's not cool. I have a lot of psychics with me, so I'd be sunk if I tried with these guys...even if they are strong.

But! Zorua and Honchcrow should be enough, y'think?

If they're at a decent level, yeah, you should be fine. You might want a few others just in case, since it's not good to rely on just two pokemon.

I fought him a while ago, so I can't quite remember the details.

Hmm...I don't really have any other pokemon that look like they'd be good against Ghosts. Maybe I should- oh, wait. I just got an egg. Oh, but when the little guy hatches it'd be weeks before he'd be ready to take on anything...nah, I'll just have to look to the center or somethin'...guess I'd better continue on to Violet, then...

Well, you said you had a Honchcrow, so that counts for something. You've got some strong pokemon, I guess.

While I was in Goldenrod I made enough money and had saved up enough to go out and buy those two stones. My Ralts, Alto Clef, was a Kirlia at the time but...wasn't evolving. He told me that he wanted to use a stone to evolve into something more powerful than a Gardevoir. So...I went out and got it for him. I picked up the stone for Capello, the Murkrow, at the same time because it seemed like he was ready.

So...I might be able to do this. Maybe...I dunno. I've got an Axew egg waiting for me to pick up in Ecruteak, and then a Gible and a Skarmory that should be there a little later...With the three of them and my boys at a high enough level it would be a cakewalk.

Yeah, it'll take some training, but by the time you're done, you might even be able to match me.

Y'know something? It really does seem like Dragon and Dark types are the best overall, psychics come close but...just looking at how the types are spread out for strengths and weaknesses it's really no contest, huh?

[Yeah, he...might be really lazy but he's still the intel guy through and through.]

They still have weaknesses though. I mean, Dragons are weak against ice types and other dragons, and Dark types can get taken out by bugs.

It's why I like being a trainer. I can figure out ways to make up for the weaknesses.

Yeah, that's true. Though, if you think about it the weaknesses of bug types might discourage people from collecting them. So, it's a worthwhile gamble. The risk of a trainer having several bug types is low enough.

[Well, for non-natives at least. He knows that there's a gym specifically for bug types and poison types both, and that he would need to think about challenging dragon trainers carefully.]

Still! Having a roster like this means I'll be a real hard contender in time. It's good to think about, but I do wanna keep improving the odds and look out for strong partners.

Yeah, but they're good to have if you're starting out. I have a Butterfree and a Beedrill and they were both really helpful.
